The Northstar has a great selection of refreshing summer drinks and their ginger ale just so happens to be a fanboy favorite. I’ve always wondered how good it would be to have an endless supply of the cool beverage and today I decided to try and do something about it.
I searched for a quick recipe online and found this one. Looked simple enough, plus, I knew I already had mint, in the garden, evaporated cane sugar, lime juice, and water. The last few steps of the recipe required Katawi and I making a quick run to Whole Foods to pick up the club soda and fresh ginger.
I’m still finishing my first glass and overall pretty good. I will have continue to refine the recipe to taste but I love the mint, ginger, and lime flavors together. Mojito’s anyone 😉
Congratulations to Nick, and to his recent purchase of some swank new diggs. He’s doing amazing things and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Great job brother 🙂
Since I’m on the programs committee for the Columbus District Council, I was tapped to structure last months Infrastructure themed event. Coordinating the event took, what felt like, another 40 hours worth of time added onto my normal work week. Even more insane was the need to organize a panel of 3-4 local practitioners who have careers focused around infrastructure.
Having a couple great resources within the committee, I was able to locate great speakers and get them all scheduled for the day. Chester Jourdan’s speech about the vision concerning Ohio’s regional infrastructure was one of my favorite talks from the night.
Here are a few pictures from the event.
Katawi has been wanting to upgrade her setup for as long as I’ve known her and recently, she was able to do so. We’ve both heard some good things about Apples reconditioned gear so she thought, “why not give it a try.” I think her expression says it all.
Here are some shots from the unboxing of her new gear. Oh BTW, these shots were all made possible by utilizing borrowed gear from “the professor”. On the 30D was Canon’s 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM lens with a Canon 580 Ex speedlite attached. All lights shot in these photos were bounced off of white ceilings in the apt. Those geek sessions are really starting to pay off and Fenstermacher has all the tools, knowledge, and the talent to help elevate, even the most rudimentary skills like mine.
